The Yellow Hen was the home of a trading family in the mid 1800’s. Ronehamn was one of the larger harbours for trade in Gotland at this time. During the beginning og the 1900 this building became a guesthouse and attracted the tourists of this era – also known as bath guests – often fortunate persons that needed two weeks relaxation close to the sea. The Yellow Hen was run by Annie Beutelrock-Krokstedt. She was modern and independent, one of the first women on the island to receive a drivers license.
Today the Yellow Hen is run in its entirety by us in the family. We are a motley bunch from Gotland with very different specialities. But no matter what we do, we invest care and love into it. Be it a logotype, a rose bush, a gourmet dish, a broken pipe, loaf of bread or a big old yellow guesthouse, Our philosophy is about wholeness, both in the field and in life. We value ecology and we are selfsustaining with produce to the restaurant from our garden, except the wild and some locally sourced ingredients, we hope this will inspire and offer many good reasons to visit the guesthouse, the restaurant and Ronehamn – a place with a unique calm and beautiful nature. We want to give all guests and visitors a warm portion of gotlandish hospitality at its best. Welcome to the Yellow Hen – or Gula Hönan as we say in swedish – or Hynu in gotlandish…..
